Even today, piracy still casts a spell over people. Who does not know them, the stories from the time of the 16th to 18th century, when especially in the Caribbean and off the coasts of South America the lawless pirates drove their mischief. They insidiously attacked ships in search of gold and silver, only to disappear again under the cover of darkness. They hid their booty in safe hiding places on one of the many small hidden islands. Their sign of recognition: the “Jolly Roger”, the worldwide known pirate flag.
